July: San Francisco, Oregon, and Colorado!!!
Windy Hill is gearing up for a very exciting three weeks! Here are some details:
We will be playing this Friday, July 15, 2011 at the Plough and Stars in San Francisco! T.E.D. from Southern California will be opening the show at 9 p.m., and we will perform at 10:30 to rock the house until last call. Tickets are between $5 and $10.
Then, next Monday, July 18, we will be playing our monthly show at Amnesia in San Francisco’s Mission district. Amnesia is one of our favorite venues, as each month the free show is packed with good people and it is always an absolute blast! Come check it out and bring your friends, it is a lot of fun, and it’s every third Monday night of the month.
Then Friday July 22, Windy Hill will be up at Horning’s Hideout in Oregon playing at String Summit – Yonder Mountain String Band’s own bluegrass festival. The Windy Hill boys are really looking forward to the road trip up to there, and after that weekend, we’ll be driving straight to Lyons, Colorado for the RockyGrass band competition! We are really excited to head back to Colorado, and although we don’t have the slightest idea of the competition, we are feeling really confident about the contest! We will, of course, let you know how it goes – keep your fangers crossed.
As always, feel free to contact the band at the email addresses listed on the Contact page. Also, our recently-released album Let’s Go to the Fair is for sale on CDBaby.com and will be up on iTunes in a matter of days, if not hours, so check up on that if you still have yet to get a copy of the CD!
Over and out,
Hope Everyone had a wonderful Independence Day. The summer is really heating up and it sure feels good. Last week we played a show at Google that turned out to be a lot of fun. We got to read some funny announcements and eat some great food out in the California sunshine. This Friday, July 8 we will be performing at the Alpine Hills Swim Club in Windy Hill’s home town of Portola Valley, and then the following Friday we’ll be up in San Francisco playing at the Plough and Stars. The Plough and Stars is always a lot of fun, so come see us live and direct. The band is getting ready and antsy to get on the road, so come support us in the upcoming weeks before we head out and help us get fired up for our band contests this month at String Summit and Rockygrass!
In other news, our debut album Let’s Go to the Fair is getting a lot of great reaction and we are so proud to have our first record! We’ll be selling it at all of our shows, and it is also available on CD Baby here, and will also be on ITunes and Amazon in a couple of days!
Keep on Goin,

HO HONEY HO
Hello friends and neighbors,
We are about to hit the summer stretch here in July and we can’t wait. July is an exciting month for us because we get to take our music to new places and faces. We are going to play a few shows around the San Francisco Bay Area before we head out to String Summit in Oregon, where we will be playing in our first band competition of the year. We are going to slam it that’s all we can tell you.
Right after String Summit we’ll be headin’ to Rocky Grass in Lyons, Co, where we will compete again and try our luck out in the place where everything started for our band. We have old friends and places to visit out there before we go to the festival, including a show at Avogadro’s Number in Fort Collins, where Henry and Ryan started Windy Hill. We could not be any more excited!
Come check us out in the upcoming weeks around the San Francisco Bay Area – check out the Tour page for details.

If you are interested in getting a copy send us an email or talk to one of us at a show near you. The album will be up on CD baby and Itunes shortly, so hold tight. We have been having fun all over the place and just got back from Grass Valley Bluegrass Festival where we got to pick with our bluegrass pals and heroes. The great thing is that it is only the beginning. Keep checkin into the site for further updates on shows. Keep pickin in the free world.
Our Album Let’s Go to the Fair Releases June 20, 2011
Well friends, the time has finally come – our new Album Let’s Go to the Fair is dropping like it’s hot on June 20, 2011, hopefully just in time for our monthly show at Amnesia in San Francisco! We are very excited for people to hear the finished product and we feel great about releasing our first album!
We’ll keep everyone posted on a CD Release party – we’ve yet to solidify the date and place, but it is in the works. In the meantime, check out some of the tracks from the album that we’ve uploaded into the music player to the right, and we hope to see you there!
Windy Hill at Pacifica Performances in June 2011
We had a blast a couple of weeks ago at the Pacifica Performances concert series in Pacifica, CA! What a great venue for bluegrass music – the Mildred Owen Concert Hall made for a really enjoyable experience both for the band and the fans.
Jason Stapleton, Windy Hill’s first guitar player, came out for the show from Ohio to play with us. We hadn’t seen him for two years! It sure was great to see Jason again and pick and sing with him.
Jean Bartlett was kind enough to write a nice news article about us that was published in the San Jose Mercury News and the Pacifica Tribune. Victoria Monroe also took some great photos of our performance. Thanks Jean and Victoria!
Thanks also to everyone who came out to support both our band and live music – donations from the event are keeping the Pacifica Performances concert series going and we hope to be back there sometime soon.
